Sports
Sport plays a huge role in school life here in Joeys especially seeing as we boast such a colourful sporting history. Many great players have passed through the dressing room doors … and here’s to many more in the years to come! Joeys is still the only school in history to have won both the Gaelic Football & the Soccer All-Ireland Finals at A-Level.
Our home grounds are in Fairview Park. We are lucky to have such an amenity on our doorstep. All teams train in the park after school.
Gaelic Football & Hurling are played at all levels here in school. Teams compete at U-18, U-16, U-14 and First Year levels.
Soccer is also very popular with the students. Teams compete in the Metropolitan Division of the FAI Schoolboys League. Soccer Teams are also entered in U-18, U-16, U-14 and U-13 levels.
Joeys has traditionally enjoyed considerable success in team sports. We are still the only school in history to have won both the Gaelic football and Soccer All-Ireland finals at ‘A’ level.
An extensive sports programme is carried on throughout the school year co-ordinated by the Games Master and with the assistance of many members of staff. We also engage the expertise of outside coaches in kick-boxing and boxing.
