Business

Business, Accounting and Economic

Business Studies aim to stimulate students’ interest in the business environment and how they interact with it. It develops skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours that allow them to make informed and responsible decisions with all of the resources available to them. As well as studying business studies at both junior and senior cycle, students in Scoil Iósaif have the opportunity to access Accounting and Economics at senior cycle, along with exciting programmes such as Mini – Company throughout Transition Year and LCVP for students beginning their Leaving Cert cycle.

At Senior Cycle, Business encourages students to develop skills for learning, skills for work and skills for life. It supports the development of analytical and critical thinking skills, encouraging students to be problem solvers. It reinforces the development of students’ numeracy, literacy and digital technology skills by providing a real-life context for their application. The course explores the environment in which business operates in Ireland and in the wider world. It also involves equipping the students with a positive view of enterprise and its applications in the business environment, in both the public and private sectors.
